Tourism Faculty Students on an 11-Day Field Internship Across Central Vietnam: A Journey of Growth
Ho Chi Minh City – Quang Binh | July 1–11, 2025
With the theme “Experiencing and Cherishing the Natural and Cultural Heritage of Vietnam,” the 11-day, 10-night field internship for over 200 students majoring in Travel and Tourism Management offered not only professional knowledge but also a journey of bonding, maturity, and renewed love for their homeland.
Hands-on Experience – Lessons Beyond the Classroom
Departing from Ho Chi Minh City early on July 1, the group traveled nearly 2,500 kilometers through iconic destinations of Central Vietnam: Phu Yen, Hoi An, Hue, Quang Binh, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Nha Trang, and Da Lat. The trip was meticulously organized to closely simulate real-life tours, with each student assigned specific roles such as tour guide, tour operator, logistics coordinator, or media specialist. At each stop, students not only visited attractions but also deeply explored the natural and cultural heritage, practiced narration skills, group management, and – most importantly – learned how to handle unexpected situations like true tourism professionals.
“I had read about Hoi An Ancient Town, the Imperial City of Hue, or Phong Nha Cave in books – but it was only by being there in person that I truly understood their value and appreciated the beauty of each place. This is not just learning, it’s living the profession.”
— Nguyen Thi Chi, third-year student

When the Heart of a Tourism Professional is Awakened
The trip not only helped students gain knowledge and skills but also instilled in them a deep pride and love for Vietnam. From the pristine beauty of Ky Co Beach, the grandeur of Hai Van Pass, to the antique charm of the Hue Imperial Citadel, and the romantic atmosphere of Da Lat at night, each destination served as a “living textbook” that deepened students’ appreciation of tourism resources and nurtured their career aspirations.

“Every place we visited touched me deeply. I want to become a tourism professional so I can share Vietnam’s beauty with visitors – with all my passion.”
— Pham Hoang Yen, final-year student
From Experience to Connection and Growth
The lively Gala Dinner at the end of the journey in Da Lat served as a memorable closing to the 11 days spent together. Many students shared that this trip brought them closer, gave them a clearer understanding of the profession, and boosted their confidence for the future.
“Eleven days may not be long, but they taught me how to observe, listen, collaborate, and take responsibility – things you cannot gain from theory alone.”
— Ho Thi Tuyet Ngan, logistics team member and Gala MC
A Step Towards the Future
This was more than just a field internship – it was the first professional gateway opened by the Faculty of Tourism, enabling students not only to learn the trade but also to understand and love it. The journey concluded on the afternoon of July 11 in Ho Chi Minh City, closing a chapter full of emotions and opening a new one: the path to becoming dedicated and capable tourism professionals.
