It has been 24 years since I stepped into Van Hien University. At that time, I was full of ambition and wishes for my whole family. When I registered for Van Hien University, I was probably like many students today, with many worries: it was a private school, I was afraid of not having a job, I was afraid that my degree would be difficult to "compete" with those of regular schools...etc.

Putting aside all my worries and with the only thought: just try my best, I enrolled in the Tourism Faculty’s Tour Guide course. The first thing that impressed me and made me excited was wearing school uniforms, the boys in white shirts, dark trousers, and even a tie around their necks, the girls gracefully in turquoise ao dai. The school schedule was oh my… just like the sound of a rooster crowing every morning. I still remember the image of Ma Ai (Ms. Nguyen Dieu Ai), holding a whip in her hand, asking late students: As a tour guide, do you have to go after the guests? If the guests are picked up at 6:00 am, is it okay for the tour guide to arrive at 7:00 am? At that time, we, the first-year students, were very stubborn, we did not like being managed in a rigid manner, perhaps 80% of us did not like Ms. Dieu Ai, but after only 2 years of study, everyone called her Ma, Ma Ai. Things that seemed very simple like wearing uniforms and being on time were very important to those working in the tourism industry.

During the study at the Faculty of Tourism, in addition to specialized subjects suitable for job requirements such as: Tourist Routes, Tour Guide Services, Sales and Marketing of Tourism Products, Tour Design and Pricing... The Faculty also invited experienced lecturers in the profession such as Ms. Vo Thi Cam Nhung, Mr. Nguyen Van My, Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong... These lecturers have instilled a love for the profession in the Tourism students.

I still remember that throughout the school year, the Faculty of Tourism and Van Hien University organized many academic and recreational activities such as: Tourism Presentation Contest, Faculty of Tourism Student Scientific Conference, participation in Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, sports and art competitions to celebrate November 20, Green Summer Campaign... These activities helped us gain clearer knowledge and ideas about future careers.

Besides the training program, the Faculty of Tourism also organizes study trips which are forever unforgettable memories for us. Many beautiful landscapes of the country are opened, many good things are discovered, the dream of conquering Vietnam and the world begins to take shape.

In the final year, doing internships at tourism companies is really effective, students can approach the actual work after studying theory, have a closer look at the profession. Maintaining relationships with tourism businesses is also creating conditions for them to contribute to the training program in an effective and practical way.

It can be said that today's success is thanks to the decision to study Tour Guide at the Faculty of Tourism, Van Hien University. I would like to express my gratitude to: Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Tra: Head of the Faculty of Tourism, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Hau: Deputy Head of the Faculty of Tourism, Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Tuyet, Mr. Phan Trong Chinh, Ms. Nguyen Dieu Ai and all the teachers who taught at the Faculty of Tourism in the 2000-2004 school year.
